Why do heels hurt the balls of my feet?

When you wear high heels, 70-80% of your weight shifts forward to your toes. The medical term for balls of feet pain is Metatarsalgia. This condition weakens the surrounding ligaments, causing the forefoot bones to drop. The are so many reasons why you have pain in the ball of the foot while wearing heels:

  • You wear heels that are just too high for you girl.

  • You wear single soled heels

  • Your heels are just too tight

  • You have flat feet which cause extreme pain in the ball of your feet when you wear stilettos that are too high

  • Weight gain or obesity - this can put more pressure on your feet

  • Joint and foot issues - such as arthritis, gout, bunions, bursitis, Morton's neuroma, hammertoes, and stress fractures

  • Diabetes and older people are more prone to having ball of foot pain

Wearing the wrong type of heels can not only result in ball of foot pain but it can also result in bunions, hammertoes, calluses, and overall foot discomfort.

What are the symptoms of Pain In Ball Of Foot?

It usually takes time for the ball of the foot to become painful. If you wear high heels you know about that burning agony in your feet when you wear your sex and the city heels. How to prevent pain in the balls of feet from wearing heels

Pain in the ball of the foot can often be improved and prevented with the following measures:

  • Make sure the heels you wear are not too high! Select heel heights that are stylish yet comfortable enough for you.

  • Find the right heel height for you.

  • Wear heels you have a good balance on. For example, for me, I often lean towards block heels because I have a better balance on them.

  • Instead of single sole heels, switch to platform heels as the platform absorb the shock of your walk.

  • You should try a heel that comes with a cushioned sole and replace any worn-out shoes to avoid making the situation worse.

How to Treat Pain in the ball of the foot from wearing heels

Pain in the ball of the foot can often be improved and treated with the following measures:

  • The best thing you can do to reduce swelling is to use an ice pack a few times a day (bags of frozen peas will also work). Cover the ice pack with a towel to prevent damage to your skin.

  • To help cushion your feet, place shock-absorbing insoles or pads inside your shoes; see links below for the best insoles

  • In a high emergency, Ibuprofen or paracetamol can be taken to relieve swelling if necessary
